Medway Waste Forum

Who are we?

The Medway Waste Forum (MWF) is a voluntary organisation set up by ordinary members of the Medway Community who wish to see a reduction of waste and an increase in recycling throughout Medway.

The Forum is a Local Agenda 21 initiative open to all residents of Medway and meets approximately once every 6 weeks. To view the Forum's constitution click here. For details of forthcoming meetings please click here.

The Medway Waste Forum has launched its own Medway waste strategy called Zero Waste For Medway.

Why recycle?

Most of the resources that we consume are finite. To leave some resources for our children and grandchildren we must not simply discard our used materials but recycle them for future generations to use.

The Medway Waste Forum supports Reduction, Re-Use and Recycling & Composting of all materials.

Where to recycle in Medway?

Many household waste materials are collected from the kerbside by Medway Council for recycling. Blue Boxes are provided for dry recyclable materials. Brown Wheelie Bins are provided for garden waste. To find out what materials are collected and the days on which your recyclables will be collected click here. Other materials can be taken to the Council's Household Recycling Centres or Bring Sites.

For materials not collected by the Council please check the recycling pages of this site.

What do we do?

The MWF is a Local Agenda 21 Forum, which meets on a regular basis to review the recycling and waste minimisation efforts in Medway. Together with Medway Council officers and councillors we suggest ways in which the services could be improved and we bring to the Council's attention any problems that have been notified to us by residents.

We also initiate our own waste related projects such as this web site, improvement of the environmental quality of our immediate neighbourhoods and a biodiesel manufacturing feasibility study. More details on the Initiatives can be found by clicking on the navigation buttons at the top of this page.

How you can get involved?

If you care about the environment of Medway, reducing the amount of waste that we produce and improving the amount of waste that we recycle then come along to the next meeting of the Forum. If you prefer you can fill out the Enrolment Form and we will add you to our emailing list so that you receive meeting Agendas and Minutes.

  • Got a waste related problem?

  • Got some good ideas for improving recycling?

  • Do you offer a recycling service in Medway?

Come to the next forum meeting and tell us all about it!

This Forum is a Local Agenda 21 Initiative for Medway.

Remember to call back in a couple of weeks as we are constantly adding more useful information as we develop new recycling intiatives.

If you offer a recycling service in Medway and would like us to include you on this site please email webmaster@medwaywasteforum.org.uk.
